DESCRIPTION
There is increased attention on women’s health covering brain fog, fatigue and cognitive functions during peri- and post-menopausal ages. However, the lack of current research-based guidance to address women’s concerns is alarming. Many women report challenges with performing professional and personal tasks attributed to cognitive difficulties they experience during peri- and post-menopausal ages; yet they are often dismissed and told it is “normal” aging. Furthermore, women are twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease post-menopause. This webinar will explore the neurological and cognitive changes that occur across the menopausal transition and how these changes may influence daily functioning, work performance and quality of life. Participants will learn to distinguish expected age and menopause-related cognitive changes from potential indicators of neurodegenerative disease and will explore practical, research-informed strategies to support brain health, cognitive function and continued independence throughout midlife and beyond.
LEARNER OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- List at least three neurological changes that in occur in women across pre-, peri- and post-menopause stages of life.
- Differentiate between normal cognitive changes and cognitive changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
- Describe women’s brain health through professional and/or personal life application for continued functional independence.
SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
Participants will be present during the live webinar in its entirety and complete an attendance verification and feedback survey in the Academy Learning Portal within one month of the live air date.
