Keeping Current with Electronic Aides to Daily Living
Description: This on-demand webinar will focus on options available to allow a client with a disability to control a television, other remote controlled devices, lights, other appliances, call systems, and telephones. Option to access smartphones/tablets will also be reviewed. Clients may consider using a smartphone/tablet to allow for control of these devices and appliances. Options for all of the above as well as standalone dedicated systems will be reviewed. Clients with significant disabilities have many options to allow for control of their environment, and this course provided an overview of these alternatives.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify two to three alternative access strategies to use a tablet or smartphone in the event of a upper extremity disability.
- Describe three to four techniques to allow a smartphone/tablet to control a TV or other appliance
- Identify two to three standalone electronic aides to daily living that do not depend on a smartphone or tablet
Successful Completion: After viewing the 1.5 hour pre-recorded webinar, you will complete a course evaluation and take a short assessment. You may download a copy of your certificate from the RIC Learning Portal or request a copy to be sent to you by mail.
