The Center for Aphasia Research and Treatment is offering a 12-week program from July 9 to September 17, 2026 for people who have aphasia. You can choose to attend the Book Club, Conversation Group or both! Join us on Zoom or In-person at 355 E Erie St. 

The registration deadline is June 26, 2026.

Book Club: The Monk of Mokha by Dave Eggers
You will be assigned to one book club time. 10AM-11:30AM or 12PM-1:30PM Central Time. 

This book shares the true story of Mokhtar Alkhanshali. Mokhtar is a Yemeni American who becomes fasicated by the history of coffee. Mokhtar works to introduce high-quality Yemeni coffee to people around the world. Readers follow Mokhtar from coffee shops in San Francisco to the country of Yemen. Mokhtar faces danger and fights to survive as Yemen breaks out into Civil War. The Monk of Mokha explores identity, immigration, family heritage, and the determination of one person to reach a goal.

Conversation Group: You will be assigned to one conversation group. 12:30-1:30PM or 2:00-3:00PM Central Time

Come join the conversation! This is an opportunity to talk about anything you want – what is happening in the world, politics, entertainment, living with aphasia, what is going on with you. Topics are up to the group! Converse in a supportive environment with others who have aphasia.

All groups are held on Thursdays.
