Management of Tracheostomies Across the Continuum of Care
This course provides clinicians with the information they need to safely manage patients with tracheostomies no matter where they are cared for: from intensive care to acute care, to rehab or long-term care and to the home environment. Numerous clinicians care for a patient with a tracheostomy, and they each offer their own special brand of expertise. Therefore, we offer different tracks targeted to each discipline so that learning is specific to your needs and expertise.
The purpose of this program is to provide staff with vital knowledge to properly assess patients, recognize potential problems and effectively manage emergencies if they occur. Each track identifies certain “red flags” that can alert the clinician to a potential problem—and provides appropriate actions to effectively manage the patient.
This program has tracks for nurses, respiratory therapists, allied health therapists (physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists), patient care technicians, and physicians and advanced practice providers.
