Rehabilitation for Bariatric Patients: A Team Approach
Description: This webinar will provide interprofessional team members with information about the bariatric patient population, specifically national statistics on obesity and how it relates to healthcare practices, medical recommendations for treatment and intervention strategies for mobilization. Providers will gain better understanding of their role in the interprofessional team approach for treatment planning, equipment management for mobilization of the bariatric patient, equipment needs and discharge recommendations one can expect for patients with obesity as a comorbidity. This webinar will conclude with a panel discussion highlighting several case examples.

Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe monitoring of a patient’s response to exercise to help facilitate mobilization of the bariatric patient in the rehabilitation hospital setting
- Identify safe treatment positions and mobilization techniques for bariatric patients in a rehabilitation hospital setting.
- Describe appropriate, discipline-specific evidence-based assessment tools, outcome measures and interventions across the bariatric spectrum
- Interpret discharge recommendation considerations for all bariatric patients from a rehabilitation hospital setting
