Webinar Description: This webinar will discuss how to apply insights from behavioral economics, a field that studies human decision making, to help motivate patients to engage in their daily health. This includes examples from prior work that used gamification, feedback and incentives to help improve physical activity and medication adherence in clinical populations. Additionally, this webinar will offer examples from prior studies that used behavioral economic principles to nudge clinicians to implement evidence-based care into routine clinical practice. This includes discussion around how to incorporate the electronic health record and other digital technologies to design low-cost interventions that are scalable across settings and sustainable over time.
Learner Outcomes: Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify behavioral economic principles that can help promote behavior change for both clinicians and patients
- Compare behavioral economic interventions and their impact on clinician and patient behavior
- Identify opportunities to incorporate behavioral economic principles into quality improvement interventions within their health system
- Determine which behavioral economic principles are most relevant for supporting health and maximizing outcomes among different patient populations
