DESCRIPTION
This course provides an opportunity for participants who have completed Elaine Owen’s Pediatric Gait Analysis: OSKAR course to take part in case conversations or present a pediatric case for discussion and analysis with Elaine and a peer group. The course blends discussions, video demonstrations and decision-making exercises. Participants will explore goal setting across all areas of the ICF, determine the optimum AFO-footwear combination and develop strategies for implementation and overcoming barriers to care.

Each 2-hour session focuses on a distinct aspect of pediatric gait management, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience that can be tailored to fit your schedule with both live and on-demand options. We recommend that you join us for at least 2 out of 3 of the live virtual sessions.

SESSION DATES & DELIVERY METHOD
This is a flex course designed to accommodate your busy schedule. Feel free to mix and match live and recorded sessions according to what best fits your needs, ensuring you have the flexibility to learn at your own pace while still benefiting from real-time interactions and resources.

Sessions will be held from 3:00-5:00pm US Central Time on April 15, April 22 and April 29, 2026. If you are unable to attend a live virtual session, the recording will be made available within 24 hours of the live airing.

AUDIENCE
Orthotists, Pediatric Physical Therapists, Physical Therapists working with acquired or childhood-onset disability in adulthood, Orthotic Assistants, Physical Therapist Assistants, Orthotic Technicians, Orthotic Fitters, Pedorthists, Physicians and Surgeons (not offering CME). Other professionals working in pediatrics have also found the content relevant and valuable.

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION
To successfully complete this course, participants will need to attend the live virtual activity or watch the recordings of the sessions in their entirety, attest to your attendance and complete an evaluation at the conclusion of the course through the Academy Learning Portal. All course work must be completed by May 6, 2026. Learners will have access to the course materials for review until August 6, 2026, at 12:00AM GMT.

LEARNER OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply collaborative decision-making skills to pediatric cases, incorporating diverse perspectives and peer feedback.
  2. Critically analyze clinical assessment data and video demonstrations of gait, identify goals, and develop and refine optimal AFO-footwear combination prescriptions and treatment strategies.
  3. Summarize and communicate evidence-based recommendations for OSKAR, recognizing barriers to effective orthotic management, and how they may be overcome.
